Strategic thinking, constructive challenge and ongoing support for business owners who want to make stronger commercial decisions and achieve sustainable growth.
Running a business can make it difficult to step back and assess what is really happening. Immediate demands compete for attention, important decisions are postponed and growth can become less predictable than it should be.
Business Growth Coaching provides dedicated time to examine the issues affecting your business, test your assumptions and decide what deserves priority. It combines independent strategic perspective with practical commercial support, helping you move from discussion to focused action.
When might Business Growth Coaching be valuable?
Coaching may be appropriate if:
- growth has slowed or become inconsistent
- you are working hard but progress is not matching your expectations
- too many competing priorities are diluting your attention
- you need to make an important commercial decision
- pricing, profitability or client mix needs closer examination
- your positioning or approach to winning business needs strengthening
- you know what needs to change but are struggling to implement it consistently
- you want informed challenge and accountability from someone outside the business
More than a coaching conversation
Effective coaching should help you think more clearly, but it should also improve the quality of the decisions you make.
Karen is a Chartered Marketer and CFA charterholder, combining business coaching with strategic marketing expertise, financial analysis and experience of running two established businesses. She will ask searching questions and listen carefully, but she will also challenge assumptions, identify commercial implications and contribute relevant insight when it will help you move forward.
The aim is not to tell you how to run your business. It is to provide the independent perspective, structure and accountability needed to make considered decisions and act on them.
What does business growth mean?
Growth should not be measured by turnover alone. A business can generate more sales while becoming less profitable, more demanding or increasingly dependent on its owner.
Depending on your objectives, stronger growth might mean:
- improving profitability or recurring revenue
- attracting more suitable and valuable clients
- strengthening positioning and competitive advantage
- creating greater capacity without overloading the owner
- improving decision-making and commercial discipline
- developing a more resilient and sustainable business
Your coaching priorities will therefore be based on what meaningful progress looks like for you and your business.
What might we work on?
Sessions are shaped around your business and may include:
- commercial priorities and growth planning
- positioning and differentiation
- pricing, profitability and client mix
- lead generation and business development
- decision-making and prioritisation
- time, capacity and delegation
- owner confidence and leadership
- implementation and accountability
How coaching works
We begin with an initial discussion to understand your business, the issues you want to address and what you would like to achieve.
Coaching is usually provided through confidential one-to-one sessions on Zoom. The frequency and initial period of engagement are agreed according to your circumstances, with regular sessions providing continuity, momentum and accountability.
Each session focuses on the most important current priorities while keeping sight of the wider commercial objectives. Agreed actions and decisions provide a clear point of reference between sessions.
“Thank you so much for being an amazing coach and a marketing consultant. It has been awesome with your help and support to see our business progress forward with marketing and coaching.”
Director, Kent Pest Management Ltd
Which type of support do you need?
Business Growth Coaching provides ongoing strategic support, constructive challenge and accountability, while responsibility for decisions and implementation remains with you.
If you first need a concentrated assessment of what may be constraining growth and which issues deserve priority, the Business Growth Review may be the better starting point.
If your business requires ongoing senior leadership and oversight of its marketing strategy, team or external suppliers, consider the Virtual Marketing Director service.
Is Business Growth Coaching right for you?
Business Growth Coaching is designed for owners and leaders of established businesses, including professional service firms, who value independent thinking, constructive challenge and practical commercial insight.
The coaching relationship is most effective when you are prepared to examine your assumptions, make decisions and take agreed action between sessions. You do not need to have every objective clearly defined before beginning, but you should be willing to engage openly with the issues affecting your business.
